Old problem which has yet to find solution. I have two brick to brick openings of 1350 wide x 2 metres high in a Georgian type house, currently single glazed French Windows in wood. On the front elevation of the house French Doors in UPVC would look hideous due to the 225mm width of combined UPVC door frames with floating mullion at the join. In half rebated wood, the combined loss of light is only 125mm. All other windows in a large house are white UPVC. Window sections will yield a light frame but no manufacture seems to be able to do French Windows (as opposed to French Doors!) with hinges strong enough to allow a full height window carrying a floating mullion.
