This contains a few Nicktoons, a few Cartoons, the 1980's show TUGS, and a (much less youngish) Thomas the Tank Engine.

We'll begin with a song. Enjoy!

A World Of Steam (Opening Theme)
Sung to John Lennon's 'Imagine'

Imagine there's no petrol,
No motor cars to drive,
No Fords, no Holdens,
Not a make at all.

Imagine all the people,
Building for the day...

Imagine there's an engine,
rolling 'long the road,
Eating coal and water,
Gleaming paint the ode.

Imagine all the people,
Mucky, on the 'plate...

Imagine a steamroller,
Steam trucks and a train,
Steam Tugboats on the Harbour,
Steam Ships in the rain.

Imagine all the people,
People Celebrate...

You may say, I'm a dreamer,
And I'm living in the past,
But they'll always be with us,
They'll have a place in my heart!

Imagine there's no airplanes,
Not a car at all,
Steam worked world of the past,
Industry, Transport, All.
Imagine all the people,
Livin' in the past...

Prologue: A Time of Change

1968. The steam powered veichle had made its mark in history. Now, the last British and American engines rusted in scrapyards. As of 11 August, 1968, the last steam lcomotive, which could be called the last of steam's race, was condemned. Steam power was no more!

Or was it? The power of change can turn tide quite suddenly. Around the time of the last steamers, the first generation diesels were being cut up, having lived nowhere near as long a the steamers.

Our story begins in a rather dark setting of Pannyff-y-Gruid (try saying it. I can't, and I made it up!) in the middle of Wales.

At the old, rusting steelworks, the sad remains of once pround steam engines dotted the old shed.

A diesel and a truck surveyed the area.

"Gotcha this time," mumbled a voice, as an electric tram, modified to run on diesel, forced a traction engine out of the shed. The engine could do nothing as it was forced into a scrap shed to meet it's horrible end.

"THE REST OF YOU!" yelled Diesel, "WILL SOON BE CAUGHT! Mark my words."

Satisfied, they left.

Long live the steamed locomotives.

I really wish we could go back to using those. Instead now we live in the Diesel Locomotive age.

In the US, a lot of our diesels are from General Electric (GE).

We still use some steam locos but only on tourist lines, or used as a rarity.
