Things are finally looking up! Très content

I get to start a new job on Monday, which means I have to leave my job at Kmart. I'm going to work for Wal-Mart!

I'm excited because I get to start at $2.20 an hour more than what I'm currently making at Kmart, and that's just to be a cashier! Surpris

I think what helped me with getting in there is the fact that I know one of the managers of the store I'll be working for. I used to work with his wife when she worked at Kmart. In fact, he was the one who called me and set up the time for me to come in and do my interview.

I also know five more people who work there. Three of them I worked with at Kmart, one of them I've been friends with since high school and one of them I have been friends with since sixth grade. That should make the transition a little easier. At least I'll know a few people.

Orientation is on Monday from 9 AM to 5 PM (Eight hours! Surpris ). I'll get to go in and watch videos and do paperwork and all of the other fun stuff.

I think that depends on who you ask. Wal-Mart has been notorious for years for doing everything possible to avoid paying benefits to their employees.

No, my friend works there; she does nothing but complain... but she is a Janitor so maybe that has something to do with it!

Tom, I think the janitors are contracted by another company (like the restaurants, well the restaurants in the Supermarkets in my area are) and if it's the same company that a couple of people I know work for they are really bad when it comes to pay and paying the benefits. Those contractors can be like some of the agencies. I've heard that the restaurant contractors are much better with their benefits. Oh and the pay's not too bad either.

I heard that someone who was in my class at school just got at Asda, who is owned by WalMart. They said to my aunt that the pay there is much better than where they were working.

I wouldn't like to work through an agency - they all seem to be bad.

As for my job, it's almost over. The pay has been great but I have been working day after day, even if only for a few hours.

I've worked for one agency and quit after a week. I didn't mind the work, but quit because they weren't reliable when picking me up to take me there. Sometimes I'd wait for an hour for a bus that never showed up. My dad phoned them up and apparently they weren't even supposed to even pick me up that day. Nice of them not to even notify me Fou. Thay said they'd do better, but I'd had enough and told them I was quitting. That wasn't good enough. What sort of worried me was because they were not very reliable from my end, who could say that they would be much more reliable picking me up to take me home. It wouldn't be so bad if it was in the town, but I was working miles out near the next town about 30-45 minutes drive away.

Things are going pretty well for me there. The pay is decent, most of the people are nice, and it's always busy so it makes the time go by a lot faster. Wal-Mart doesn't seem to be as bad of a company to work for as everyone says, either. At least not yet, anyway. All of the bad things I have heard about in the media I have yet to see at my store. I also get a lot more hours, too, which is nice. This week I have 32 and next I have 28.

There are also some assisting rules that regulate the perform of the job organization.
