Forget reality! This is where you can post unrealisic life wishes.
Man, if they still ran steam (China's taking out theres at last, which is a pain in the guts), I'd get a camera and go on a world trip. Britain and it's A3 and Black 5's, France and the Nord Pacifics, New Zealand and the first Pacific's, and China and it's QJ's.
I also wish I could buy some mansion in the Scottish Highlands and run a private railway line, with LNER P2 Coc O' The North as my private engine. In case of emmergancy, I'd have A3 Sandwich as a backup. LNER 1st class Teak.
If it rained, I sleep in the coaches for that express Flying Scotsman effect. Also because trains and rain make a dramatic connection.
I'd have a huge model train layout at the top, in the attic, and buy the sets for Thomas (pre-2002). I'd also have an HO/OO layout, contaning a least one loco from each country in the world, from Arabia to Zimbabwe.
I'd get all you guys mansions too, each in a good location with a private railway! Who wants a Carrabean Mansion?
I'd have some scientest bring Nicktoons to life (or in my sate of mind, out of invisibility), and let the kids out for adoption and the parents get a mansion. I'd get Timmy and Chester.
Lastly, I'd start an oil refinery, and bring petrol prices down FOREVER!
Oh yeah, I wish. Why is this not true? |

I would live on a medium sized inhabited tropical island, deriving its electrical power from sun and wind, with my gf (then wife) and have maybe one to three children whom we would homeschool. I would have a fair sized yacht with a variable-fuel powerplant, with a 12,000 nm range, capable of literally heading for the other side of the world. It would be compatible with a helicopter and two small hybrid suv's I would have.
My dream business would be a food company, retaining as part time "faculty" many of the world's best chefs (Puck, Agassi, etc) and health authorities (nutrition, cardiology, endocrinology, and oncology) devising and producing food and drink products that would be unquestionably good for you.
My grand thesis is that many of the demands placed by education, socialization, work, market, state, custom, and society are directly at odds with what we know the human organism will endure, and well in excess of what is really needed to ensure a comfortable, sustainable mode of living. There will be a community near my estate where different aspects of various lifestyles will be tested, evaluated, and adjusted to create an optimum model of good living and fair play for the future. |

In my perfect world, everyone (especially governments!) would get along. When I think about it, it seems like oppressive communism... but good oppressive communism.
Food companies wouldn't be allowed to produce food that they know is incredibly unhealthy. Smoking would be banned, with drinking only on licensed premises. Health services would be up to excellent standards and free, paid by tax (they could do it in the 50s, why not now?).
For some reason, whenever I look into my own future, I see myself being famous, despite lack of discernible talent! I don't know what I'd do, I'd just be famous for being me. Though, I don't really want to be! |

Cool.
I have one more thing. I can explain it in one simple word/s...Private Hospital!
And Police.
And Firemen.
Sandwich might operate a special on the Waverley roue, which I would re-open for a preservation society. The locomotives would be.
A3 Sandwich
V2 Green Arrow (Purchased from NRM and overhauled)
Duchess Sir William A Stanier FRS
A4 Commonwelfth of Australia
A4 Dominion of New Zealand
A4 Union of South Africa
A4 Dominion of Canada (Bought from CNRM and overhauled)
A4 Empire of India
The above are British Empire commemerative locomotives, that will only be run on the Waverley Route for 1 month, before bieng sent to thier representive countries.
9F Evening Star (Bought from NRM and overhauled
Coranation Coranation
Also, I'd make artifical, envirmentally friendly artificial minerals, based on Welsh Coal for good steaming. |
