Isn't that a stereotype? Not what you said Tom, in reference to what you quoted! |

I'd agree because at least half of the Americans I personally know such as my family don't even like rap. I know my dad doesn't. That would be also like me saying that all all people in the UK like house/trance because a most of them go clubbing. And just because someone likes and dislikes a certain type of music doesn't mean that everyone likes and dislikes exactly the same. It would be so dull if everyone had exactly the same tastes as everyone else and of course everyone is different. I also think that country is somewhat popular, maybe not on as wide a scale as other types, but it is still somewhat. |

Heh, Internet anger is the funniest kind of anger because it's someone sitting at their computer getting a sweaty brow over some words! |

Can't we all just get along? And if not, can't we all be PG 13 for once? |

Thank you, I'm blushing
I'm into a lot of old music quite recently, and stuff that's been sampled. I, like, have to have the original if I hear a song that's been sampled. |

Yeah, namecalling is uncalled for, no matter the situation.
Stereotyping's a major petpeeve of mine. I never liked tro use it for reference for a certain group/race/religion/creation. It's a rather degrading way to go
Music's one of those things that's different for everyone. For me--the lyrics going to a decent beat are what is most important in the songs I listen to. Sometimes I go a step further and choose songs, not only for the lyrics/beat, but also for if I can sing to it w/o problems (high pitch, going out of range, can be done w/o sounding horrible). I just love to sing along to the tunes, and the songs in particular matter on what I will and won't sing. I just can't bring myself to sing/listen to songs that carry a message deemed immoral/degrading. A lot of songs from Nelly and a few other rap/hiphop singers fit into that category unfortunately.
Music's what you make it. We all see and hear from different perspectives. Not one person alike. If we all were, we'd all probably be Mariah Carey fans, and I don't see that happening to myself anytime soon. (I got the Mariah Carey reference from an article I read some time ago on just this subject).

Why did the article happen to reference Mariah Carey? I don't get the reasoning that we would all be MC fans. Or was the author just using any old musician as the example? |

To be perfectly honest, I really don't remember who it was that wrote the article. It's been five or more years since the last time I read it, or saw it for that matter I just remember the reference for some strange reason
