I don't like music based on its "genre". I'm very open to all kinds of music and think it's very narrow minded of people who do only listen to a song because it's "Hip-Hop/Rap" or "Emo/Rock".

I don't want to sound like an idiot... BUT WTF DOES EMO MEAN?! I've heard it eighty fricken thousand times in the last month.

Mainly rock, any rock from Elton John and Delgados to Lamb of God and Atreyu. Mainly in between those four. I have recently been turned on to country, and I like some trance and smooth jazz. I will on occasion listen to rap. My least favourite music is crap rap and mainstream rock and 'Coming Undone' by KoRn.

Then what was the point of replying? Thats the american way of music. They say they cant stand country, but love rap. It's just the way society is in america.

I don't know, I would have to agree with Tom. The majority of bands I like would be considered rock, but I'll listen to anything that catches my ear rather than what style it is. I'm not going to limit myself to the 20 bands/artists that MTV says are cool, it's all MTV thinks is out there. But, their in the pockets of labels so I guess we shouldn't expect that much from them. They haven't been a credible channel in nearly 10 years.

Was my question overlooked or do I have to repeat myself...

Sorry, I'm just overwhelmed by three other people on other boards right now, sorry if I sound pissed.

I tend to not listen to all that much hiphop as most of what I've heard of that genre has been very degrading in my eye. Part of it could also be blamed on the videos, that only make the message seem worse.

I like several different genres; alternative, punk, grunge, rock, pop, a bit of R&B, select country, and select rap. For the most pasrt though, anything fitting into the same categories as music done by: Green Day, Ace of Base, Fleetwood Mac, Smashing Pumpkins, Garbage, Eagles, Savage Garden, etc. The list goes on.

Yeah, I fall for the latest hit music, myself. Triste Dance is good, too. As a matter of fact, I'll try pretty much anything except country or ANY type of metal. EmbarassÚ

Same here and it nearly always depends what mood I'm in, but at the moment I'm mostly into the chillout type stuff and sometimes dance/pop.

I don't know whether to call you or your spelling down.

Anyway, an emo person is a Myspace-type poser person with long hair, often black. Tons of stuff on it on the internet.

I remember seeing an NRj building near Lille.

But "Emo" as in the type of music (Emo, being short for Emotional) is a branch-off from Rock and Punk that has very poetic lyrics, sort of lyrics that tell a story, I think. Imagine Whitney Housten if she sang rock and that is Emo. As I blogged last month, I have nothing much against "emo-rock" as it's called, but the whole stripy-cut-off-sock-on-my-wrist type fashion makes the whole thing look like a right state.
