An idea I've thought of a few times I think because there was a similar idea thought of when I was in a class at school one day. Anyway if you were to pack a very small travel case or bag with just 5 small items incase you get stranded in a jungle or on a desert island as a castaway, what would they be? Oh yes you can have an additional large item! I will tell you mine later.

Note take into consideration the weather and surroundings.

I'd probably just make light of the whole situation; a very stupid thing to do...

1. Food
2. Water
3. A laptop with internet access
4. Colthes
5. Alot of wood, preferrably with nails and a hammer attached.

Um just one thing where exactly are you planning on plugging it into? Oh sorry I should have said something about the places being uninhabited with no buildings or civilisation. You would be completely outdoors, unless you build a shelter or find a cave or something. My mistake.

Now what would I take? Probably something like:

A swiss army knife (for cutting and carving things)
A packet of chocolate raisins (for emergency rations incase I don't find any food of any kind)
ball of string (comes in very handy)
Blanket or sheet (which I would wrap the items in, can use for a cover like a tent or can lie on it)
and probably a small bowl of water, which I can reuse the water

Large/wont fit item would be a pot, saucepan or bowl (with lid) for cooking and a few other things

That's what I'm thinking of for now.

Ooooo. Oh yeah I didn't think about solar panels. Would definately work on a desert island because if I'm right there's often a lot of sun. Would definately have to be a solar panel, because a battery wouldn't stay charged, well certainly not, as much as some people use their pc's and laptops. I'm not sure about the internet access unless your access point and antenna and have very long/far signals.

It stays bright late into the day in the desert too, rising early at 6 AM and setting late at 9:30 PM. Just modify a wall charger to be a solar panel, maybe a big fold up one, then all you have to do is clean dust off it every hour or so.
