So is anyone looking forward to the new Windows due for release next year. Personally I could care less. Apparently Linux is getting almost identical to Windows, but needs a little more work and improving. My dad told me though that his friend said that anyone using an illegal XP will have it wiped in November I think he said. Well he didn't say but it must be anyone with an internet connection of course unless he has a way of doing it to those even not connected.

I think they'll step up "Genuine Advantage" but I don't think they'll wipe fake copies off.

Illegal XP copies are detected when you connect to a M$ update site for example (win update, m$ update...)

If m$ detects that you're using an illegal copy, it'll unactivate your copy (you'll have a message when you start your computer asking you to buy a real one)

No one can wipe anything on your hard drive Clin d'oeil

Vista (the new window$) is not as existing as XP was when it was announced. According to m$, it's a revolution, according to me : an update Tire la langue

My dad for some reason had automatic updates selected which he didn't realise and yes he has a message. He then went and chased around for a genuine copy which he found one on Ebay. This was over 2 weeks ago and he's still waiting for it. Oh and it's also coming from inland and not abroad.

So is there a possibility of them sending a virus?

I'm getting a new computer next year, hopefully in January. I might get it sooner if I'm careful enough with my money. I'm getting an iMac and I'm planning on getting DSL Internet with it. Sourire

Yeah, but then what's the point in buying a Mac? It's like if you had a 60-year-old wife but she looked in her thirties, what's the point?
