This idea from another thread. But aren't words and dialects funny? For example you take one word and it's pronounced one way in some dialects and another way in other dialects. Some words are personal preference. Dialect/preferential examples include:

Glass
grass
bath
class
and scone.

Also another example is English/American spelling, which one or two letters are omitted/added e.g.

Colour/color
flavour/flavor
some words with s/z in, which I can't thing of at the moment
maths/math.

Words with more than one meaning if you get what I mean include for example:

Live - I live... or the game is live.

Then there's words pronounced the same, but spelt differently and meant the same or differently. Examples:

Whether/weather
pane/pain
great/grate
meet/meat
feat/feet.

Can anyone think of any or does anyone want to add anything. Feel free to add anything.

You stole my idea Surpris I'm going to send a lynch mob after you.

Um, odour. You don't spell odour 'odor' that's just wrong. Seriously, what's with loosing the 'U' from all those words, it's laziness isn't it? Ah come on, you can tell me.

It's all to do with standardi(s/z!)ed spellings.
I read. It could mean different tenses, which annoys me! Even though we often know which one it means. Rire

I stole your idea, huh Tire la langue. As I said the idea was from another thread. I guess I better bolt up my doors and windows and become a hermit then and dissappear *hides*. Anyway...and what about those medical words, like the silent 'p' ones. Examples; Psychology, psycho, psychotic, etc.

Other words with silent letters include; island, aisle, etc. There are more if you live in some Counties/Regions and speak in some dialects like the County I live in.

HELP ME PLEEEASE. PLEASE SAVE ME FROM THE LYNCH MOB Pleure.
