I'm in my last years when a language isn't compulsary, and only 6 people out of maybe 200 took it.

well, the rest of them were taking Spanish. More popular languae, I guess.
Oh, and part of the reason was that there was a mixup in the middle school. The highschool never used to offer French 1, but this year they did. I'm confused myself but w/e

The teacher was boring and couldn't speak French correctly herself. She was American, which explains her bad French accent. Hell, other french people used to make fun of her because of her bad accent. And to think she's a French teacher! Rire

Isn't compulsary?! I had to take on a language for GCSE, kept it French which I had been studying since Year 7, except when I switched schools, for the last few weeks of Year 9, I had to endure learning Spanish as well as French!

I think it depends where you are. I guess that Scottish schools' curriculums run differently to those in England, but then I think his school runs differently anyway such as term times and year starts if I remember so. Don't they also have different qualifications? (SCEs or whatever) I think when I was in year 9 it was the last year before a language had to be taken as a GCSE. I wanted to learn Spanish, but we could only learn it if we'd done well at the language (French or German) we learnt in years 7-9.
