After more than 20 years since their last live concert in Wembley, and well over 14 years after the lead singer Freddie Mercury passed away from AIDS in 1991, original band members Roger Taylor and Brian May, with lead vocals by Paul Rodgers, managed to put together a very good tour that visited several iconic cities in Europe under the name "Return of the Champions".

Performing mostly old songs originally sung by Mercury, this album was a very good compilation, and what I liked most of it was the fact that Rodgers did NOT try to fill Freddie's shoes; he rather sang the songs in his own style.

Recently, the band released its first studio CD since 1991, called "The cosmos rocks". It features all-new sound; aside for a couple of chords that reminds of the classic Queen music, and of course the virtuoso guitar playing that has made Brian May famous for over 30 years, there is hardly anything there that reminds you of the old band led by the flamboyant and charismatic Mercury. As a matter of fact, this album, more than a new record by Queen, is the first of a new joint-venture called "Queen + Paul Rodgers".

The album recently hit the shelves in Mexico, and I just had a chance to listen to it. My opinion on it is not clear yet; I can't still forget the great sound these guys made back in the good old days, when they were considered one of the heavy bands in the same category as, say, Led Zeppelin or Cream, but the sound is interesting and it certainly needs some careful listening.

Have you listened to this album? what's your opinion on it?

Is it just me, or does it seem like alot of old bands are suddenly coming out with new albums? AcDc, Guns-n-roses. Now Queen has a new album.

And the rumors, true or not, of many old bands reuniting; in the last few months I've heard insistent rumors of a possible reunion of Led Zeppelin (which would be great!), and I also heard rumors of the band Police getting together again; Van Halen, too.

In any case, we the fans are the ones who benefit most from all this, don't you think? And if the new music is good, I will definitely buy them!

I hate what I've heard of G&R's new album... about what I expected. AC/DC has surprised me, though, because I never liked a song by them until Big Jack.

Don't forget the Stones a few years ago...
