I'm sad.

Early today, at 1:40 in the morning, my dad passed away. He was nearly 75.

He had suffered a serious heart attack a couple of months ago, and had been weak but stable ever since. Apparently he had a second attack today, and this time his heart could not resist it.

He was born September 23, 1933. He was the eldest son of a typical Mexican family of the era - four brothers and four sisters. He was a very hard-working man; from an early age he started working, having odd jobs to help sustain his family. He worked for some time pumping gas at a service station that still exists today, then he started a very long career at the central Bank of Mexico. He worked there for over 30 years, retiring in 1986.

He was a man of a very strong character and sometimes a very short temper, but he was also a very caring father and a loving grandfather. He was a very good provider - though we were not prosperous, we never missed a meal or went with needs when we were growing up. He was very supportive of his sons and daughters, and was always proud of our accomplishments.

He is no longer with us, physically, but we'll always carry his memory in our hearts, in our minds, in the example he gave us during his life, of tenacity, hard work, and strong will to overcome hardships and bad times. May he rest in peace, and God allows him in His presence.

Hasta pronto, papacito, que Dios te bendiga. Mil gracias por todo. Te queremos mucho.

Wow, I'm really sorry to hear about that. Triste Hang in there, OK? <Hugs>

My mom just found out last week that she has high blood pressure. She had to go see the doctor yesterday and she put her on blood pressure medicine that she's gotta take for the rest of her life now.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss; how you speak of him---it shows how much you love him and how you'll always remember him as the great guy you described him as

Even though I'm a bit belated with this, I send my condolences.

Keep strong, and remember him for the great memories he made with you and your family Sourire

Thank you all for your kind words, my friends. It's been a rough week, but things are slowly returning to a state of normality. Right now me and my family are in the middle of all the procedures required to ensure continued medical services and a pension for my mom, as well as all the other things one has to worry about in these cases.
